Opportunity Title: Theological Library Volunteer
Location: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Time Commitment: 1 to 3 months

Purpose: To build partner capacity for theological education and improve access to theological and educational resources at the CRC-DR's Theological and Educational Ministry Media Center.
Specific Responsibilities:
1) assist in the development of the Christian Reformed Theological and Educational Media Center, including coordinating layout and set-up, organizing and procuring resources, and training national volunteers/staff.
2) Be willing to share your Christian faith with others.
3) Build relationships with the community by staying open and flexible to the culture around you.
4) Live and worship with the community during the project.
5) Complete recommended reading, and attend orientation before departure to the country
6) Report back to congregations and to individual supporters about the work of CRWM and our partners.
Qualifications:
1) Mature Christian committed to serving Jesus Christ.
2) Degree and experience in library science
3) Intermediate Spanish ability required.
4) Ability to work in a tropical climate and sometimes under difficult conditions.
6) Willingness to follow the community’s leadership in the project.
7) Good oral and written communications skills, as well as reporting, planning and organizational skills.
8) Compassionate and respectful of other cultures.
9) Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision in ambiguous situations.
10) Flexible, adaptable and able to view life with a sense of humor.
Expectations of the volunteer:
1) Complete and submit a volunteer application form and resume/CV.
2) Pass a background check.
3) Raise prayer and financial support by inviting churches and individuals to give to this opportunity.
4) Attend an orientation session in either Grand Rapids, MI or Burlington, ON.
5) Adhere to CRCNA Standards of Conduct
Budget: please note that costs are estimated and listed in US funds
Travel to country - $550
Food - $200/month
Lodging - $700/month
In country transportation - $300/month
Airport fees/visa - $125
Ministry expenses - $550-$800
TOTAL Estimated funds needed - $2425-$5075, depending on length of service.
