Opportunity Title:  Grant Proposal Writer

Location:  Jos & Gboko, Nigeria

CRCNA Agency:  CRWRC (Christian Reformed World Relief Committee)

CRCNA Partner Group Involved:  The Ecumenical Centre for Justice and Peace (ECJP) aims to promote absolute peace among warring communities by providing education on the consequences of violent conflict and emphasizing the tenants of good brotherhood and neighbourhood. ECJP uses community development to mobilize communities to work together in community projects.

Number of Positions: Multiple

Expected Length of Service: Minimum 8 Weeks

Dates Opportunity Is Available :Flexible

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Learn about the ministry of ECJP in Benue State – Makurdi and Gboko.

  •  Develop and implement a process for gathering information needed to write and  evaluate grants.
  •  Collaborate with staff to write grant proposals; edit proposals/reports as needed.
  •  Create a framework for sustainability of program.

2. Participate in ECJP reporting.

  •  Weekly CRWRC reporting as needed
  •  Home office reports and stories
  •  Meet with mentor/supervisor

3.  Other duties as needed (see position description for details of position).

Qualifications

  1. Mature Christian committed to serving and following Christ;
  2. Experience in grant writing;
  3. Basic knowledge of integrated-holistic Community Development work in related areas i.e. Health, Nutrition, HIV/AIDS, Water, IGA etc.
  4. Strong organizational skills;
  5. Respectful of and ability to thrive in cross cultural settings or another culture;
  6. Demonstrated interest in learning about Christian community development;
  7. Commitment to CRWRC development values;
  8. Self-starter and able to work and guide own learning without constant on-site supervision;
  9. Able and willing to work in a team setting;
  10. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  11. Ability to invite others into his/her ministry through prayer and financial support;
  12. Ability to work effectively while dealing with the ambiguity of adjusting to another culture;
  13. Able to nurture own faith in a sometimes isolated environment;
  14. Superb oral communication and writing skills;
  15. Flexible, adaptable and able to view life with a sense of humor.

Financial Requirements of Volunteer: please note that costs are estimated in US funds

  • Estimation of $6,600 USD for RT Airfare to Nigeria
  • Transfers

  • Other Personal Expenses.

 Additional Costs-depending on each individual

  • Passport(must be valide for at least 6 months beyond date of return)
