Opportunity Title: Christian Education Service-Learning
Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Number of Positions: up to five undergraduate education majors (or recent graduates), one North American education professor
CRCNA Ministry Involved: CRWM
Time Commitment: approximately two months
Dates Opportunity is Available: Anytime, subject to staff availability.
Purpose: To join with a group of education majors from North American and Nigeria to focus on Christian worldview and how it impacts education, and to share best practices for teaching from a Reformed worldview.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Participate in coursework to be taught by two education professors—one from North America, one from Nigeria.
• Organize and run a summer school, VBS or similar event, utilizing Reformed principles of education and what was learned through this course.
• Engage with Nigerian peers to discuss the dominant worldview of our respective cultures, and to share thoughts/ideas/best practices for teaching from a Christian worldview.
Qualifications:
• Student in an education program, or a recent graduate.
• Mature Christian, aged 18 or older
• Flexible, adaptable and able to view life with a sense of humour.
Expectations of the volunteer:
• Complete and submit a volunteer application form and resume/CV.
• Undergo a background check.
• Complete recommended reading prior to departure.
• Raise prayer and financial support by inviting individuals, businesses and/or churches to support your ministry.
• Attend an orientation session in Grand Rapids, MI or Burlington, ON (when possible).
• Share with your supporters about your experience after returning to North America.
• Adhere to CRCNA Standards of Conduct.

Support Services Provided: ServiceLink and CRWM agree to provide:
• Orientation materials as well as ongoing logistical support.
• The support of our CRWM missionaries and their local partners on-field.
• Debriefing assistance both on the field and after returning to North America.
