Location: Bamako Christian Academy (BCA) in Bamako, Mali – offers Kindergarten through Grade 12
Organization involved: Mali Educational Association (including Avant, WorldVenture, SIL/Wycliffe, MELM, Navigators, MAF and others)
Number of Positions: several
Expected Length of Service: A preferred commitment of one 10 month school year (a minimum half year~ August - January), and a time of reading, orientation, and fundraising before departure.
Dates Opportunity Is Available: ASAAP
Purpose: English speaking classroom teacher for primarily missionary kids from various overseas locations.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Planning, preparation and teaching of all classroom curriculum.
- Collaborate and work alongside BCA staff
- Ensure and maintain quality of classes taught
- Prepare reports on the progress of students attending the classes
- Build relationships with the community by staying open and flexible to the culture around you;
- Write bi-monthly reports to individual supporters and churches
- Complete recommended reading, and orientation before departure to the country
- Provide BCA and the community with an evaluation at the end of the project.
Qualifications:
- Mature Christian committed to serving Jesus Christ, who is a Canadian or US resident
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Current teaching certificate in home country (preferred)
- Minimum one year teaching experience (preferred)
- French language skills an asset
- Compassionate, respectful of other cultures and emotionally stable
- Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision
- Reporting and organizational skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to view life with a sense of humor.

Support Services Provided: The ServiceLink offices agree to provide the following:ongoing logistical and orientation support to meet the needs of the volunteer, local community, and BCA staff.
- Reading and orientation materials, consultation and/or visits by missionary staff
- Mentorship and supervision on the field will take place with BCA staff.
- An opportunity to help volunteers link their individual/church’s mission and vision to work being done.
Requirements of the Volunteer:
- Complete and submit a volunteer application form, resume/CV and Volunteer Profile
- Provide a current (within 2 years) criminal background check; including a vulnerable sector search
- Raise prayer and financial support by inviting individuals, businesses and/or churches to give to this opportunity
- Attend an orientation session.
Financial Obligations of the Volunteer: Please note that costs are estimated and listed in US funds for a 10-month school term.
