
Opportunity Title: MINISTRY INTERN with
Association for a More Just Society (AJS)
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Purpose: Volunteer positions with AJS generally involve research related to the areas in which the organization’s partner in Honduras works, communicating about its work to donors and the public (writing articles, taking photos, etc.), fundraising event planning, advocacy activities and/or administrative support.
Specific Responsibilities:
1) Specific responsibilities will depend on the needs of AJS and the skills of the intern, but will most likely include:
• Communications / fundraising activities such as writing or editing articles, updating our website, sending out emails, etc.;
• Help planning and executing events;
• Advocacy activities: communicating with constituents in the U.S. about specific cases and encouraging them to take actions like writing letters and sending emails;
• Administrative support: entering donor and donation information into our database, coordinating printings and mailings, etc.;
• Research: there could be some opportunities for helping to research issues AJS is concentrating on related to Honduran government and politics.
2) All interns will be expected to:
• Complete recommended reading, and orientation.
Qualifications:
1) Mature Christian committed to following God’s call to do justice;
2) Highly motivated, a self-starter, and able to work independently;
3) A medium-high level Spanish is helpful, but not required;
4) Good oral and written communications skills, as well as reporting, planning and organizational skills;
5) Basic competence in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Support Services Provided:
The Association for a More Just Society agrees to provide orientation materials as well as ongoing logistics and support to meet the needs of the volunteers.
