
Opportunity Title: Auto Mechanic
Location: Rehoboth, New Mexico
ServiceLink Partner: Rehoboth Christian School
Number of Positions: 1 or more depending on availability of volunteers
Expected Length of Service: 1 week to a few months
Dates Opportunity is Available: August 2012 – October 2012
Purpose: This volunteer opportunity would truly bless the Rehoboth Christian School and its students in such a big way as their students are bussed in each day, some coming from as far away as 60 miles.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Working hand in hand with Rehoboth’s Mechanic and Transportation Director to correct any mechanical problems with the buses;
2. Be a team player in building bridges with staff and students;
3. Be willing to share your Christian faith with others;
4. Build relationships with the community by staying open and flexible to the culture around you;
5. Live and worship with the community during the project;
6. Complete recommended reading, and orientation before departure to New Mexico;
7. Provide Rehoboth Christian School with an evaluation of the project;
8. Share your volunteer story with your church, supporters, ServiceLink and Rehoboth Christian School.
Qualifications:
1. Mature Christian committed to serving Jesus Christ;
2. Experience in auto mechanics;
3. Some knowledge of the area and what kind of culture differences there are in New Mexico;
4. Ability to do physical labor in a higher elevation;
5. Willingness to follow local leadership in the project;
6. Be compassionate, respectful of other cultures, and emotionally stable;
7. Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision in what could be ambiguous situations;
8. Flexible, adaptable and able to view life with a sense of humor.

Support Services Provided: ServiceLink and Rehoboth staff agree to provide:
• orientation materials as well as ongoing logistics and support to meet the needs of the volunteers, local community, and Rehoboth’s local staff;
• opportunity to help volunteers link their individual/church’s mission and vision to work being done.
Requirements of the Volunteer:
1. Complete and submit a volunteer application form, resume/CV and Volunteer Profile;
2. Provide a current (within 2 years) criminal background check; including a vulnerable sector search;
3. Raise prayer and financial support by inviting individuals, businesses and /or churches to give to this opportunity;
4. Attend an orientation session in the Home Office (when possible, or by phone);
5. Adhere to ‘CRCNA Standards of Conduct’ and any other applicable policies and/or procedures.
Financial Obligations of the Volunteer: please note that costs are estimated and listed in US funds
• Travel to ministry site – will vary from person to person depending on departure city
• Medical and travel insurance – if coming from outside the US
• Meals – can provide lunch in Fellowship Hall, but all other meals would be on your own.
• Lodging - $100.00 weekly for an apartment and $ 25.00 per week in the dorms
TOTAL Estimated funds needed – would depend on how long the volunteer can come.
Additional Costs – depending on each individual
• Passport – if coming from outside the US
• Communication (i.e. cell phone, internet)
